The First Post-Test Training
Driving is a life skill that everyone can work on throughout their lives in order to reduce the chances of having an accident. Most of this is in the form of unstructured personal evaluation, after situations where a driver isn’t happy with a choice that they made. There are also formal lessons which can help drivers understand which skills they do need to work on to improve.
The Pass Plus is the first one of these lessons, which is available to younger drivers, and it also acts as an introduction to several situations that the driver has not encountered before. It will also help to give younger drivers a further appreciation of safety.
What Pass Plus Contains
Pass Plus contains 6 modules and there is no test that candidates must pass after they have completed them. The idea behind pass plus is that it increases a young drivers experience of different situations in a controlled environment, and encouraging a safe driving style.
The modules are:
- Town Driving
- All-weather Driving
- Driving Out Of Town
- Night Driving
- Driving On Dual Carriageways
- Driving On Motorways
Pass Plus is best taken any time during the year after the learner passes the driving test. The savings on the insurance premium can be much more than the cost of the course.
You can find out more information on the Pass Plus website. It may also be worth contacting your local road safety officer about the Pass Plus scheme, as some subsidise the scheme to a worthwhile extent.
After Pass Plus
Once your learner has taken the Pass Plus, you may find it useful to have another private practice lesson. During this lesson, your learner can show you what they have been taught on the Pass Plus, and this is another good way to build up more experience.
Pass Plus is only the first step to safer driving after the test, and more information can be found on the Driving As A Life Skill section of this website.
